Community Arts Day and Senior Project Photography Show.
At the end of the week before last, Friday morning I found out that the picture I submitted into my towns Community Arts Day was awarded first place! I could not believe it when I read the e-mail because of the story behind trying to submit the pictures.
So. I was waiting for gym class to start standing out by the trophy case when I saw the sign for entering in Community Arts Day. As I read I was assuming I would have awhile to pick out or take photos for my entry but when I got to the bottom of the page it gave the entry due date at the upcoming Friday, and it was already Monday of that week. I was freaking out because I had been so excited about the idea of entering a picture and what if it actually got in that would be so exciting and everything. I looked for the next two days for pictures to enter so by the time I found the two I wanted it was Thursday. I did not have photography class that day so I was planning to go in during my study hall the print out the pictures but instead I completely forgot and just stayed in study hall and read my book.
 awesome.
I realized that I forgot by the end of the day and was giving up on entering my pictures. I had photography class the next day but it was last block which ends at 2:30 which was the deadline for picture entries so I didn't want to be rushing everything at the extreme last minute so I went to the photo room during my study hall in the middle of the day. I show up all ready to print out and mat my picture but when I walk into the classroom I found out we have a sub...
He doesn't know how to use the printer, and neither do I.
All I did that period was put the pictures into my teachers incoming folder and I would have to figure it all out last block in photo class. I showed up to class and to sub who doesn't know how to do anything photography related is still there, making me even more upset. There are three printers in the photo room that all print on a different kind of paper and with different ink and I got everyone to print my pictures except the one I needed! I ended up finding someone in my class who had the number for my teacher and we called him on his sick day to MAKE him tell me how to use the stupid printer (I hate technology and it hates me back). I got my pictures printed and ten minutes before class was over and the deadline closed I turned in my entry for Community Arts Day unmatted like the paper said they had to be..oops.
I turned them in and still felt stressed but turns out that stress was worth it! I got an award and my pictures hung in the show.
At the end of last block two girls in my school were making piles of peoples pictures they were having hung in their senior project photography show that night and I noticed one that I thought was mine. I picked it up and it was! Underneath there were five more of my picture ready to be hung in the show that night! I called my parents and asked if we could come to the show , they said yes so we got my grandma later that night and off we went. It was amazing!
Two incredible photography things happened that day and I was really excited all Friday night till Community Arts Day the next day.
Anyways...
I am extremely grateful for those two great surprises both in one day!
I congratulate you for reading this and spending the last five minutes of your life on me
Thanks!

Parkleigh is a little shop down town where I live that is on a interesting corner surrounded by old buildings turned into coffee shops and other small shops. I was there with my mom a couple weeks ago and it was rainy and gross outside so I decided to see if I could make something nice out of that day. Here's a little of what I got!

It isn't much but it was fun and I will definitely go back and spend some more time out there again soon.
Thanks!

Artisan Works
About three weeks ago I went on a photography tour/trip to Artisan Works (http://www.artisanworks.net/) with my dad and some other people from a town photography club I am in. It is basically a giant museum of art that sells some of its work, pretty pricey but definitely worth it depending on what you get. They have everything ranging from life size zoo animals to Elvis Presley dolls. I thought it was really interesting but going once is not enough to see everything. Look at the website and see if you would be interesting in going ever and here is a sneak peek inside!

The art inside is pretty amazing! More pictures are on my Flickr and you can also look on the website to learn more.
Thanks and have fun exploring!

TOMS

I ordered some photography equipment last week and it arrived in the mail today so I though I  would try it out on my Toms! I got three backdrops ( black, green, and white), lights, and soft light covers. I opened it when I got home and set it up right away. I used the black backdrop and soft light to the right of the Toms so only one side had the main light source on it. With all the other lights off I think the pictures turned out pretty good.

The rest of the pictures are on my Flickr account (the link is on the right side of the page), they are all pretty similar but different ares are in focus and different parts of the shoes are the main subject. If you are interested then go take a look at the rest of them.
Thanks!

Inspiration

I was on Pinterest.com two days ago and I found a picture when I searched for creative photography and underneath it was a paragraph about a 16 year old photographer, Ann He. I liked the picture and paragraph so much that I googled her and found her website. She has a website, blog, Facebook fan page and other websites you can get the links for on her website.
http://www.annhe.com/
I have looked through all her pictures and they are amazing. She is the same age as me and has been published in multiple magazines and in contests. She is a fashion photographer and truly inspiring because I can relate to age and position.I emailed her hoping to hear a little about her and her career. I am not going to say on here what I hear back if I do hear back but I am glad I get the chance to talk to her.
I think if you are interested in fashion photography or photography in general that you should go take a look at her website.

7:45 in the AM

I woke up yesterday morning at 7:30 to amazing amounts of fog outside my window. I had been planning to wake up early that morning to go to a park up the street from me but I went to bed around 4:30 that morning because I couldn't sleep so I decided that I would go the next morning. I set my alarm for 10 and finally fell asleep. I'm guessing my internal alarm clock had a different plan for me because just three hours later I was out the door on my way to the park.
During the day there are usually what looks like hundreds of geese out on the ponds, there is no fog but it is still gorgeous to watch them all float out there. It is like the scene in The Notebook when Noah and Allie are out in the boat ( my favorite movie by the way). I wanted to see what it would look like early in the morning but when I got there none of the geese were out! Well maybe twenty which isn't a lot compared to how many there are. I could hear them but I couldn't see them. There is an island out in the middle of one of the ponds where all the geese are in the morning making all their geese noises. They swim over one by one by one by one and it is very irritating because I want to get pictures of all of them.
I got some good picture that I like a lot but I am only going to put up a few, the rest are on my Flickr.

Juno!

Hi Everyone!
Its been awhile so I am going to do a lot of blogs in the next couple of days so I can update you on everything that has been happening. BUT! Right now while I have some time I am going to show you my new puppy Juno :)
We went and got her on Saturday from Ohio. Her transition to living here is all done and she now thins she is the queen of the house. Haha :)
So here she is!

She is so tine and gorgeous but she bites! Ouch!
Her and Jasper get a long good. Sometimes there is some tension but we are all settling pretty well with her being her :)
I actually have to go take her outside now but I will have many more blogs up soon!
Bye.

Jasper Photo Shoot

Hi everybody!
Alright, I have some pictures that I actually just took outside with my mom of our dog Jasper. There is a bakery in the village where I live called A Barker's Dozen and it makes gourmet dog treats. They also have a pet photography studio. Here is a link to their Facebook page and Website so go take a look :).
http://www.facebook.com/BarkersDozen
http://www.abarkersdozen.com/
They sell "party collars" and we have two for jasper. One party and one for Christmas so we took some pictures of him wearing them and we are going to put them on their Facebook page. I though I would show you guys a few and you can also look to see what other things they sell on their website.
I'm sorry this one is side ways but this is Jasper
in his party collar.

This is his Christmas collar.

This is also his Christmas collar.

Thanks for reading and I'll have more to write about soon :)
Bye!

Wall Decor

Just a little update.

  • I have been super busy and fall went by so fast that I didn't get to take as many pictures and I wanted to and now its the not very attractive season in between fall and winter so there isn't a lot for me to photograph with colors of anything. It just rains all the time and its dark and grayish.
  • I just ordered and received a tone of prints to cover my bed room wall with.
  • I got a chance a couple weeks ago to go to a photo studio and watch and actual photo shoot. I got a taste of what it would be like if I opened my own studio some day.
  • I am working on learning more about photo shop in school and at home so hopefully I will be able to do some pretty cool things with photos eventually.
  • I have found a tone of photography ideas on pintrest.com ( If you have never been on it or heard of it, I definitely recommend it. A little bit of an addiction will eventually occur towards it but I think you'll be okay.) I just have to wait for the weather to clear up then hopefully get caught up on my photography.
Bye:)

Graffiti

I went to the Public Market where I live about a week or so ago and took what I think are some really cool pictures of the art on the walls by the streets. I don't think its regular graffiti, we are pretty sure that someone was hired to do it because it looks so good and is organized and signed nicely. I definitely have a new love for the down town art and will go out and find some more.
Here is just a few to look at and the rest are on my Flickr.
This one is interesting because if you go look on my Flickr you might be able
to see that it is part of pattern of a flying bird down the road and around a girl then it keeps going.
There is a drawing of each stage that the bird is in when flying. Things like wings up then in the middle then down the up in the middle and down and it shows the different angles it is it. It is really interesting to walk along and see.

I will try and find more for everyone to see :)
Thanks!

A bug?

So I was out doing some chores for my dad yesterday and I found this plant that I was about to pull out but when I looked a little closer there were what looked like hundreds of little yellow bugs on it. They weren't moving but they had I think four black leg things and I asked my dad but he didn't know what they were either.
So I am asking you guys if you know what they are!

I found then on more than one plant which is not very cool because they don't
look very friendly. If I figure it out I will let you guys know but if you figure it out
please let me know!
thank you :)
Bye!

It's been much to long...

It has been so so so long since I last posted. I feel really sad about that. I have had no time to take any pictures with school, work, painting classes, and family. I am going to the Public Market this weekend so I will get some pictures there and I have the weekend open so I will definitely get out and take some more. I will have them up as soon as I can after that. I hope things will lighten up soon so I have more time to take pictures because I love fall so much I think some really amazing photos come out of it. I have some cool places this fall to go to to take pictures but I think I am going to wait till the colors change a little more. So I will have some really neat photos a little later in the season.
Not much to write about today but I will soon!
Bye !

A Stroll Through the Woods

Hi everybody,
Saying that makes me feel like I am addressing tons and tons of people even though I am pretty sure I'm not, but I hope one day I will be so I'll keep saying it anyway (  to remind myself I'll get there eventually ).
So! Today I went for a walk in the woods, I'm guessing in the morning because there was a lot of time left in the day after but I don't know what time exactly I went. My dog Jasper came with me and we were gone for around two hours. We started our walk on the trail my family made in the woods that we call the "walking trail" that is for anybody who feels like going for a walk in the woods. So we started on the trail but very soon in we took a turn and went over a hill and just kept walking to see what we could find. Yes we have been back there before but there is always something new plus we have not been to the cottage in two weeks. We went on our walk originally to go find some treasures in the woods. Treasures being animal bones and such. Those are the types of things we find at the cottage :)
I brought my camera with me. Of Course!
I took some pictures that I am in love with so I thought I would share them with you
Here we go!...
I would not say that this is my favorite picture but
I took it today and I am in love with it. It is looking down
the neck of a glass bottle I found in the woods at the little
world that is growing inside of it.

This is the skull of I am guessing a fox. I have even done
some Google-ing with my mom to compare it with other
animals and the only other things it would be is a wolf but
we are thinking it is a little small for that. This is one of the
things I brought back to the cottage after our walk :).

This is a baby pink fungi that is growing on a log that I
thought looked so cute I had to take a picture.
I tried to get a good picture but I didn't expect it to
come out as good as I think it looks.

These are little baby fungi that are growing on a log, and
there were actually a lot of the all down the length of the log.
A picture of that is on my Flickr, but I also did a close up
and I am really glad I did because I think the
detail is amazing! You can see all the little I'm
going to say hairs but I am not sure what they are.

These are some of my favorite from today but the rest of them are on my Flickr so go take a look
if you liked these. The link is at the top of the page.
I didn't finish writing this today oops! So all of
this actually happened yesterday.
Thanks for reading :)

Editing

I don't usually edit my photos because what I like best is the natural beauty of the things I take pictures of. The detail that goes with them or the environment they are in and colors and things. But I did find some pictures that I didn't like that much but I wished looked good so I decided that I would try some editing. I think they turned out great!
My mom and I stopped an area with a lot of trains and train tracks but I am not sure what it was. If they were being fixed or cleaned or build.

These are a daisy that I applied the 1960'6 edit by 10's until it was as high as it could go then put the all together

This is some sap on the pole that holds up our flags at my cottage that looked pretty plain when I took it but the detail was so cool I didn't want to not be able to use it
Thanks for reading :)

My Flickr

I haven't mentioned it yet but I have a Flickr account with a lot of my photographs on there but I do have some new ones to update it with which I will be doing as soon as I can. This weekend I work a lot so on my breaks during rotation I know I will be blogging a lot and organizing my photos and things. I'm a lifeguard by the way. Is anybody else? Do you like it? Tell me a little about it if you feel like and we can compare. Its fun to do that kinda stuff sometimes. But anyway yes I have a Flickr and I have a lot of my photos on it and they are all together and nice so I think you should take a look if you have some time. Who knows maybe you'll find something you like.

Clothes Line

Alright! Its been about a week since I went to the Clothes Line festival and I know I am way overdue for putting up the photos but I have been so insanely busy this week.
I had an amazing time there with my mom. It was really hot so we had to buy me a T-shirt that is pink and says " You mow girl" and it has a picture of a lady mowing the law in her work clothes. I also got a picture from Ted Tatarzyn that I think is fantastic. I learned all about how he took the picture and the trip he was on when he took it and other trips hes been on and I just had to get this photo. My mom helped me pay for it and it was definitely worth it. I know I will be getting more of his pictures in the future but for now how about you go look at them.
http://www.tatarzynphotography.com/
I also got another photo I like a lot . It is black and white and its a close up on people holding hands but I don't have a website for who I got it from. Sorry.

Okay here are some pictures I took to show you the size and crowds at the festival.

Lines for food were at least a 20 minute wait for some probably longer

The drink lines weren't as long

That's about it for pictures and I know it doesn't look like much but if you know what it is and there's a way you could get to it next year or even if you just want to message me and I can tell you where it is and other details but privately that would be great too. It is really fun and if you don't buy anything its still a good experience.
Thank you for reading!

Sorry!

Hi everybody!
I'm so so so sorry its taken me this long to put up the pictures from the festival. I have had a super crazy week with school starting and I had to change my schedule around and I also had work and homework and photography club started and everything. I've been super busy but I promise I will be blogging from now on at least once a week but I hope more because I think its fun to look around and read people's blogs when I'm bored sometimes. So I hope I have some things you guys will find interesting enough to keep coming back for more. I have a list of thing I need to blog about so I'll try to get those all up soon because I know I'm very behind. I also realize that for awhile my blog hasn't been able to be viewed by anyone but last night my sister Caitlin actually fixed it for me so I spent all night making it look the way it does so I hope everybody likes it. I have also been recently informed that I do have some typing errors. I type fast and don't always pay attention or go back and read to make sure everything is spelled the right way like their and there. I'll work on that.
Sorry again for all the issues that have been going on but I'm about to spend quite awhile blogging so I'll get everything up that has been going on lately for you guys to see.
Thanks for reading this it really means a lot to me :)

Off to the festival!

Has anyone ever been to the Clothes Line Festival??
If you know what it is and you've never been but you have the ability to get there then go! right now! It starts at 10 and its $5 to get in.
If you don't know what it is then how about I tell you a little bit about it?
It is basically an art festival but there is food and music and bands there too. All types of artists enter there work to be chosen to show their pieces in the festival. Photographers, sculptors, painters, potters, craft makers, clothing makers. Just about any type of artist there is. It is rows and rows of white tens with the artist and there work sitting there all day watching people walk by or stop and look at their work. They love to talk about there pieces , if you ask them a question some will talk forever to you about it and some will say one word but they all enjoy the nice people. The art that's there is abstract, modern, high tech, old or old looking. It is so interesting to go around and see what these people do for a passion. They create these items to show people and hope someone will like them enough to but some from them.
It is a really fun place to be so if you can go you should but it is just this weekend so hurry! It has a great atmosphere and is definitively an experience you want to have in life
My passion being photography makes this a great place because there are a wide variety pf photographers that shoot all different subjects. People, landscape, buildings, seasons. Anything you can think of just about.
I am bringing my camera and later today or tomorrow I will put my pictures up to show you all what I saw and so you can see a little bit about what it is.
I hope everybody has a great day like I know I'm going to :)
Thank you for reading and come back soon to see the pictures!
